Ukerewe Island
Lake Victoria is the largest in Africa and the second largest fresh water lake in the world (after Lake Superior in Canada). This vast region is very pretty, and sometimes we had the impression of being close to the sea. We visited Ukerewe Island north of Mwanza.
This island is very densely populated and off-the-beaten-track if we compare it to the north of Tanzania. There, people are very friendly and the children quite nice; they rarely ask for money or pens. They seem to be happy with following and watching us.
This picture is a good representation of an aspect of Africa; Africans don't seem to have much business know-how.
On this sign, there is an ad for a lodge with parking, clean rooms and the Internet. However, there is no address or any arrow indicating where to find the place.
Scenery around Lake Victoria is characterized by these kinds of rocks. They are everywhere and are really nice.
When we stopped for lunch, we had a lot of spectators curious to know what two white persons were doing in the area.
They were very nice and Melanie has tried to make them sing and dance. It made them laugh a lot.
