Exploring our beautiful planet

Durban

I don't write posts on cities very often since most of the time I think they are boring and ugly. Cape Town is a notable exception and, to a lesser degree, Durban as well.

In fact, the real appeal of this city is the beachfront. The whole promenade, renovated for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, is a very nice place for activities of all sorts. The city of more than 3.5 million inhabitants has a strong population of Indians and a few other ethnic groups can be seen as well.

The beach is a bit empty on this Sunday since there is a marathon somewhere else is the city. Moreover, it is winter for the South Africans and the temperature is a bit cold (especially the water). A negative aspect of this city; the summer temperature can reach over 40 degrees.
