Pacific Coast
One of my favourite places in El Salvador! The beaches along the country's Eastern Pacific Coast are amongst the nicest of all the region. I had the opportunity to camp on this small land where I had access, only for me, to this little house, and a superb swimming pool. All this at only a few dozen metres from the beach.
The beaches in the area all have a surprising characteristic, they are very flat. Entering the water, one notices that the further you get away from the shore, the slope of the ground is very negligible. At 20-30 metres in the ocean, the water level was only a little above my knee. However, some waves were as high as my shoulders.
From this superb campsite, I explored the beaches all around the region.
Playa El Esteron
Playa El Cuco
This beach is the most popular in the area. Even though the littoral is quite scenic, the quantity of people that comes here leads to the eternal problem of trash management.
Playa Las Flores
As much as the El Cuco beach can be crowded, Las Flores is so much more quiet. Even though they are separated only by a few metres by a rock formation.

Getting close to a big city, the quantity of trash becomes a problem. How sad!
Conchagua Volcano
I am still on the Pacific Coast... almost. I camped at the summit on the Conchagua Volcano in the far-eastern side of El Salvador. From the top of the volcano, there are superb views on Bay of La Unión, the Gulf of Fonseca and its islands, as well as upon three different countries. Indeed, from the volcano, one can peer into El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
At the night comes, one can see the light of the city of La Unión.
