Craft and dance
Here are a few types of crafts and dance that are still being done in Rwanda. Following the genocide of 1994, several techniques and part of the know-how were lost.
The craft done by this lady is called 'Imigongo'. It is a form of painting with cow dung. It is a relief painting made with cow dung which is covered with traditional paint thereafter.
In Gatagara, we visited a centre where craft pottery is being made. We have been able to see all the stages of making an object.
Another form of interesting craft is the making of objects with pewter. In Huye, it was possible to visit a place where such objects are crafted.
At the Volcanoes Park, before going to track the gorilla, tourists can watch a traditional show. Since we slept at the starting point of the gorilla treks, we had the chance to enjoy this show.
