Road from Ollantaytambo to Santa María
Over a million people visit Cusco and the famous Machu Picchu every year. Despite this incredible number, I saw virtually no tourists on my loop north of Cusco/Ollantaytambo.
I drove around 500 km, passing through mountains and jungles with magnificent scenery.
Road from Quebrada Honda to Lares
Lares
A small village surrounded by magnificent mountains, Lares is a beautiful place to relax. One of the attractions of Lares is its thermal baths, where the water, with its high concentration of minerals, is said to have therapeutic virtues.
Despite its strong yellow/brown colour, the pools are clean and well maintained. On weekdays, the area is very quiet and you can enjoy the therapeutic virtues of the springs.
Road from Lares de Calca
A beautiful route through the mountains at altitudes of around 4,000 metres.
