Windhoek, capital of Namibia
Windhoek is a nice capital with about 350,000 inhabitants. Nevertheless, there are few things to do in this city except the good restaurants and the numerous markets. In the evening, the city seems dead and deserted. People seem to be afraid to go out.
This city is rather modern and has less German influence on its architecture.
The Independence Museum
This new museum has opened its door 4 days before our arrival. Millions of dollars have been spent for the building sheltering the museum that spans four storeys.
However, the content is very disappointing. After our visit, we don't have a clear idea on the history that has brought Namibia to split from South Africa in 1990. The message is more about how the Whites have been cruel against the Blacks and about them freeing themselves of these injustices by their courage. It is true that the Whites have been horrible during and before the Apartheid, but for me, the museum is somewhat racist and it is the world upside down. The revenge of the Blacks in a way...
Daan Viljoen Game Park
This small park, a few kilometres from the capital, is interesting. There are a few interesting treks to do. It is also possible to see a few species of animals.
