Bwabwata National Park
The Caprivi Strip
Bwabwata Park is located in the far north-east of Namibia in a small region called the Caprivi Strip. It is a narrow strip of about 450 km located between Angola and Botswana. The area, as opposed to the rest of Namibia, receives a lot of rains and is luxuriant.
For a long time, the park has suffered from poaching during the war in Angola. Since the ceasefire in 2002, the animals have started to come back in the park. We have been quite surprised by the animals that we had the chance to observe.
Bwabwata - Kwando River
We are in the easternmost area of Bwabwata, along the Kwando River. We were lucky to see elephants at close range in the park.
It was the first time that Gitane was seeing elephants in an African park. She was walking on air and myself, I was also very happy. I took as many pictures as if it was the first time ever.
Bwabwata - Mahango area
This area is the westernmost zone of the park. We saw several species of animals like this magnificent leopard.
