Guanajuato - Museum of the Mummies
WARNING: If you don't like what you see at the beginning of this post, don't go any further. There are mummies of babies and very young children below.
The Museum of the Mummies of Guanajuato is located next to a cemetery and is very famous in Mexico. It is a fascinating place that contains real mummies unearthed in 1865 to make room for more bodies in the cemetery. I don't know if such a museum would be accepted in Canada or Europe, but for Mexicans, acceptance, celebration, and obsession with death is very common and normal.
The best known death celebration is the 'Day of the Dead' which is celebrated in many different ways. The most bizarre, for me, is the one where people go to the cemetery and have a real party with the defunct involving food, alcohol, and music.
In Mexico, nobody is offended to see mummies of babies. They even do selfies in front of them.
