Amboseli National Park
I really wanted to visit this park before leaving Africa. The park is famous and you probably already saw a picture of it. Indeed, the iconic photo of an elephant in front of the Kilimanjaro is normally taken in this park or in the neighbouring region.
Did I manage to take such a picture? No, the sky was quite cloudy and the visibility wasn't very good (far away). Nevertheless, I succeeded in taking a so-so photo of an elephant in front of the Kili. It is not National Geographic quality, but it is a nice souvenir of the park.
In addition to having Kilimanjaro in the background, this park has a very unique characteristic. In the middle of a very dry plain, there are some lakes and rivers that seem to pop up from nowhere. In fact, there are fed by the water coming from Mount Kilimanjaro.
However, there are more than 2-km of dry land between the park and the Kili. Those waters come from the mountain and reach Amboseli Park through natural underground passages.
