Nueva Ocotepeque to Copán Ruinas

After crossing the border between El Salvador and Honduras, I had to choose between a nice 175 km paved road with so-so scenery or a harder 100 km dirt road through some potentially great landscapes. I hesitated for a while since the road was hardly visible on the maps, and the locals didn't seem to know if it eventually reached Copán Ruinas (my next destination).

I finally chose to go through the mountain road, and it was extraordinarily beautiful. The path was partly along the border with Guatemala, through mountains and coffee plantations. The drive was not so hard for my motorbike, but I would not have liked to do it in a car. All the vehicles I saw on the way were 4WD.

This 4WD has a differential gear problem and can't go up the hill with its coffee load.
