Comayagua - Honduras

Comayagua was founded in 1537 and was destroyed shortly thereafter during the indigenous rebellion that started with Chief Lempira. It ended with the death of Lempira. In 1539, Comayagua was rebuilt, and it was recognized as a city by the Spanish Crown in 1557.

The city has a rich colonial heritage, and the view from the church tower on the central plaza is fabulous.
