Muger river and Blue Nile Gorges
Many people wonder about what is there to see in Ethiopia. Those that are 35 years or older may remember images of hunger broadcast in the eighties. Others think that there is nothing to see in the country.
Far from it! This country, part of the Great Rift Valley, is one of the most spectacular in terms of scenery. Moreover, it is far from a country where droughts are constantly occurring. Ethiopia is very green and fertile. You will realize that by looking at the photos of two wonderful gorges.
River Muger Gorge
This very spectacular gorge is located near the village of Durba. The village is right on the rim of the gorge and offers magnificent views.
Blue Nile Gorge
The Blue Nile is one of the rivers that are tributaries to the famous Nile of Egypt. This river has shaped the land into a spectacular landscape all along its path. It has also created the Blue Nile Falls that you will see in a later blog...
We stopped at a magnificent viewpoint where there was a restaurant. Thus, we enjoyed an excellent meal with a well-deserved beer (well, travelling is tiresome).
