Zumbahua
Zumbahua is a small town located about 12 km south of Laguna Quilotoa, at an altitude of 3800 metres. The main highlight of the place is the weekly market held on Saturdays.
Like in Saquisilí, this market is one of the best I have seen since it's very authentic. Lots of indigenous farmers dressed in traditional clothes come to sell their products, or to buy what they need. Another positive aspect, for me, is the fact that very few tourists visit this market.
Fiesta del Sol y de la Cosecha
In addition to the Saturday market, I had the chance to enjoy this great annual fiesta. According to some people, it's about the anniversary of the town's foundation, but also a fiesta dedicated to the Sun (sol) and the harvest (cosecha).
There had to be a few hundreds people in this parade (from 200 to 300 people, based on my assessment). It was fun to watch the procession of costumed people, and, for many of them, dancing in the streets.
