Tulcán
Tulcán is the kind of town I love. At an altitude of 3000 metres, the refreshing climate is excellent. Few tourists stop here since the town is not famous for any specific attractions.
The small central market is filled with fruits and vegetables, with several kiosks of hawkers selling fresh and natural juices, like the delicious pure carrot juice that is one of my favourite. The central park is also a nice place where to spend a few hours doing nothing.
Tulcán Cemetary
Oddly, my first visit in Ecuador was a cemetery. Far from being morbid, the cemetery is a nice labyrinth of cypress trees, sculpted in shapes of totems, animals, or mythological figures.
