Cayambe-Coca National Park - part 2
I'm still exploring the Cayambe-Coca National Park from the city of Cayambe. Yes Cayambe is a city, a park, and a volcano.
This time, I went to the mountain refuge at the foot of the Cayambe Volcano. Normally, it's possible to drive up to the refuge with the motorbike, but about 3 kilometres before my destination, the road had become too difficult for me to risk it.
I left the motorbike on the side of the road, and I continued on foot to the refuge and the surroundings. I also tried to reach a small laguna, but the fog and especially the snow prevented me from reaching it. With only running shoes, it didn't take long before my feet were wet, and at this altitude (4700 metres), it was quite cold for the body.
Three weeks later...
I passed the region a second time after leaving Quito and the north of the country. As for the Cotopaxi Volcano, I had the chance to have a nice sunny day near the Cayambe Volcano. The views below are from the north side of the volcano.
