Padcaya and the Reserva Nacional de Flora y Fauna Tariquía
Padcaya
Trail from Padcaya to Tariquía Reserva
The trail to the Tariquía Reserva climb about 1000 metres from the village of Padcaya to the start of the reserve itself. I already added this place (the trail and the reserve) as a highlight of Bolivia since the scenery is so fantastic, and, moreover, there are no tourists.
The change in the climate is incredible, to the west of the highest point shown on the map, the climate is very dry and everything is yellow since it is the dry season. On the other side, going down to the Tariquía Reserva, everything is green and the forest is luxuriant. The more I went down in the valley, the more I felt the humidity and the odours it brings. There are many more birds such as the toucans with their magnificent yellow/orange beak.
Reserva Nacional de Flora y Fauna Tariquía
In two days, I only saw 3-4 cars on this road. I even slept on the side of the road in a small clearing with a spectacular view of the reserve. I wasn't bothered except by a few cows that came to graze around the tent.
The descent in the Tariquía Reserva has started. The climate changes fairly quickly, and the lush forest can be seen far away.
The next day
After a good night sleep on the side of the road, what a joy to wake up to such a magnificent view!
I drive back on the same track I did the day before.
