Purmamarca
I'm back in the mountains, but this time I'm confining myself to the pre-cordillera and visiting the villages of the Quebrada de Humahuaca at an average altitude of between 2,300 and 3,000 metres.
I'm spending a few days in the village of Purmarmarca, known for its magnificent coloured rock formations, including the seven-coloured mountain or Cerro de los siete colores. In the Aymara language, the word purma means desert and marca means town, hence 'desert town'.
