Amaicha del Valle - Museo Pachamama
The Pachamama Museum in Amaicha del Valle is an interesting curiosity located on the way between Tafi del Valle and Cafayate. The museum offers four rooms where the themes are geology, ethnology, tapestry, and painting. To be really honest, three of the four rooms are boring; only the one with paintings is nice.
The appeal of the museum is rather the site itself, which is really a great work of art. The building's walls, the benches, the tables, and even the ground are decorated with mosaics made of small rocks. There are sculptures of the Pachamama, the Sun God (Inti), the Moon God (Quilla) and also several other impressive works of art.
The museum was designed by the painter, sculptor, and artisan Héctor Cruz, and it needed 6 years of work before its completion.
