Break in Caraz
After the canyons, I took a few days off in the town of Caraz.
From my hotel room, I was seeing the Cordillera Blanca. A magnificent show just after sunset.
Road Yuracmarca - Andaymayo - Yanama
This journey of 260 kilometres is a superb drive in the foothills of the Cordillera Blanca.
Once more, the fun is to enjoy the winding road with the motorbike, to see incredible landscapes, and also to discover small mountain villages.
Village of Yanama
Yanama is located at the entrance of Huascarán National Park in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca.
The place is very quiet and the people very friendly. The scenery around the village is superb. I am at an altitude of 3300 metres, and the mountains with eternal snows are at 4500 to 5000 metres.
Huascarán National Park - Yanama to Yungai
Today, I am entering the Huascarán National Park and I discover no less than sensational alpine scenery.
I drive at altitude around 4000 to 4300 metres, and I even reach a peak at 4717 metres. At the end of the day, I go down to the town of Yungai at 2500 metres.

From this place, I walked a short distance to a viewpoint with fantastic landscapes.
The lakes are about 1000 metres below my actual location.
It is a slow descent, hoping that the motorbike's brakes won’t fail...
