San Cristóbal de las Casas
San Cristóbal is a splendid town known for its colonial architecture. Around the town, there are numerous traditional villages with ancient beliefs and rites.
The town was founded in 1528, and Dominican monks established themselves here in 1545. It was the capital of Chiapas state from 1824 à 1892.
San Cristóbal got damaged by the September 2017 earthquake. The church is closed since then, and the fence was put up because the walls are still damaged.
