Ground squirrels.
Kgalagadi Park is a wild land covered with white or red sand where thorn trees survive under a scorching sun. It is part of the Kalahari Desert that covers about three quarters of Botswana and parts of Namibia and South Africa. Speaking about the Kalahari is speaking about sand everywhere; it is the largest contiguous sand-covered area in the world with its 2.5 million square kilometres.
The Kalahari Desert doesn't have a big density of animals, but with a bit of luck, one can see lions, cheetahs, leopards, and a whole range of animals adapted to semi-arid conditions.
Sand everywhere and sparse vegetation are characteristic of the Kalahari Desert.
Try spotting a lion in through these herbs about a meter high.

This set of nests is built by a species of weaver called social weaver. These birds live in small colonies with several dozen nests clustered together.
